I moved to Paris in 2018, leaving my boyfriend, family and friends behind in Australia. I would be away from them for a year.
During this time, I began to notice and focus on things that were isolated, torn apart or out of place. Sometimes sad, and sometimes filled with a joyous and unrestrained energy, they reminded me in some way of my own status as a temporary migrant. These ‘things’ are the subject of this series, removed from their reality and reassembled as a new whole.
These photos are memories of my lived experience, and scenes from a city, Paris, that has been extensively photographed yet often misrepresented.
